The refurbished version of the biblical twin-stick shooter, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is to receive a hefty chunk of DLC in the summer.
The expansion will be queasily titled Afterbirth, and according to developer Edmund McMillen will feature a whole host of new things. And not just things, but stuff too: a new character, new bosses, new co-op babies and new transformations.
A more complete run-down of the Afterbirth DLC can be found on The Binding of Isaac's blog, where the developer promises expanded gameplay time of "easily 100-200 hours". Here's some of what we can expect.
- 100+ new items
- a full new game mode that will totally change how you play
- 10 new challenges
- a new playable character
- a new alternate final chapter
- new alt floors
- new game endings
- new final bosses
- tons of new bosses and enemies
- new item pickups, cards, pills, etc.
- tons of new achievements and rewards for beating the game on hard
- new co-op babies
- new transformations
- and more… 😐
Also mentioned in the blog post is an update for the original Flash-powered version of the game. The update, which will be free for owners of Wrath of the Lamb, will introduce a new difficulty level based around modded and overpowered bosses. You can watch that in action here.
