My favorite battle royale ever made was Sharkmob's Bloodhunt. Reimagining the Vampire: The Masquerade universe in a new, unique way, its rain-soaked Prague and slick cosmetics meant it shot straight to the top of my 'favorite PC games' list, only to be killed off a couple of years later. I know how it feels to watch one of my favorite titles bite the dust, ruined by cheaters and bad actors, so I can empathize with the dedicated Super People players who were there when it breathed its last back in 2023. But, in news I really didn't expect to write today, Wonder Games' multiplayer shooter is back, and it's holding a new closed beta test next month.
As the online Super People of all things feels like quite the decision. Initially blasting onto the scene with an impressive showing during its first ever beta test, Wonder Games' shooter struggled to maintain that momentum, eventually closing its doors and going offline in August of 2023 after a rebrand to Super People 2.

But, as confirmed in a director's letter from Friday May 2, Super People is coming back this year. "Since the end of Super People 2 Early Access, I have found myself asking the same questions every day: 'If only we had done things a little differently…' 'Is it really possible to try again?'" writes game director Hur Min. "We listened closely to the voices of those who still wanted Super People, and we made a promise to bring it back in the first half of 2025."
As confirmed in that post, Super People is getting a brand new closed beta test (CBT) in June. In a follow up director's letter from Thursday May 15, Min states that the team has actively taken aim at cheaters, worked hard to fix the game's balancing, and added a resurrection skill for players of a certain level to stop you from losing all of your progress.
The game has been made more rewarding, too, with the blueprint system being removed in its entirety due to concerns that it was "pay-to-win." Instead, the new player experience should be a lot better, and while that does mean the ability to slide has been sacrificed, the team notes that it "may return later under specific acquisition conditions."
If you're simply intrigued by this new and apparently improved Super People or, alternatively, are a long-time player that's missed popping heads and taking names, then you can put your name down for the beta right now.
You can sign up for the new Super People CBT between today and the end of the test. The test itself runs from Wednesday June 18 at 3pm PST / 6pm EST / 10pm BST / 11pm CEST to Friday June 25 at 6pm PST / 9pm EST, or 1am BST / 2am CEST on Saturday June 26. Note that the above times for the UK and Europe are based on UTC. You can request access here.
