Get city builder SteamWorld Build and other indie hits for under $3 each

Top city builder SteamWorld Build is included in Fanatical's Platinum Collection bundle. alongside great games like LOTR Gollum, and more.

Another month means another exciting build-your-own-bundle from Fanatical, and April's Platinum Collection selection is another doozy. Right now, you can build your own bundle from Fanatical's pick of 16 great Steam games, which includes survival horror Bramble: The Mountain King, adventure RPG The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, and top city-building game SteamWorld Build. The best part? The more games you buy, the more money you can save!

The Station's city-building game is set in the SteamWorld universe and tasks you with building and managing a town on a dying planet. Like any good city-building game, however, it's much easier than it sounds. You need to manage your resources and construction efficiently and keep your citizens content to ensure your settlement survives and (ultimately) escapes.

While keeping your town thriving may be simple initially, the challenge considerably ramps up as time goes on – and it's not just overground you need to keep your eyes on. SteamWorld build throws in some dungeon management to keep you on your toes, as you can venture into the mines below your town to explore and dig for resources.

In our SteamWorld Build review, Andrew Farrell called the game an "entertaining blend of city building and dungeon crawling" and described it as "a mix between Anno and Dungeon Keeper." So, if that's your kind of thing, it's worth checking out Fanatical's bundle deal, regardless of whether you're a seasoned SteamWorld player or a newbie.

Here's how it works. You need to choose at least three games from Fanatical's April Platinum Collection picks to benefit from the bundle's discounts, but the more games you add to your bundle, the more money you save. Picking three games or four games reduces each to $3.33 / £3.33 ($9.99 / £9.99 for three and $13.32 / £13.32 total respectively), five or six discounts each game to $3 / £3 ($14.99 / £14.99 and $17.99 / £17.99 total), and seven or more games get you each for $2.85 / £2.85 ($19.95 / £19.95 for seven total).

In our opinion, the best value options here are the five and seven-pick options as they result in the biggest savings. Typically choosing five of these games would cost over $100 /£100, with seven games costing over $150 /£150, so picking them up for under $20 / £20 is an absolute steal.

If you're a city-builder fan and want to pick up SteamWorld Build, it's well worth adding Parkasaurus and Terraformers to your bundle, too – plus a few other games that tickle your fancy. This selection covers a wide range of genres, so there's something here for everyone. Story-rich point-and-click adventure? Grab Between Horizons and Tales from Candleforth. Love survival horror? DreadHaunt and Bramble: The Mountain King are worth checking out. Are roguelikes more your thing? Try Bravery and Greed or Koboo: The Tree Spirit. And if, like me, you've been waiting for Gollum's price to drop before picking it up, now is the perfect time.
