The Steam Deck is one of the Steam Deck, making it easier than ever to pick one up if you don't mind a preowned device.
Certified Refurbished Steam Decks are already available to purchase via Steam, with each version of the handheld naturally receiving a price cut due to their second-hand origins. That said, Valve says all stock has undergone the most optimum care and due diligence to ensure they meet the expectations needed to be re-sold.
"Every device goes through a complete factory reset, software update, and an extensive examination involving 100 tests at one of the Valve's facilities," Valve states on the refurbished Steam Deck storefront.
If you're still hesitant about buying second-hand hardware, Valve hopes to allay your concerns somewhat by offering the same one-year warranty on refurbished Decks as is available on brand-new ones. However, the Steam Deck may show signs of wear, including some cosmetic blemishes, the carrying case, quick start guide, and a refurbished power supply will also be included.
