EA has added 12 classic Star Wars games to its Origin Access subscription service – which include the likes of Dark Forces, Republic Commando, X-Wing Alliance, and the original Battlefront II from 2005.
These games the Star Wars titles already on Origin Access, which are EA's own Battlefront games, both Knights of the Old Republic games, all LEGO Star Wars titles, RTS Empire At War, and LucasArts' last internally-developed Star Wars games – The Force Unleashed 1 and 2. BioWare's The Old Republic MMO is also on Origin, of course, but that's free-to-play anyway.
The games have all been added to the Vault – the special catalogue of older games on the service – and you can get all of these games on the basic Origin Access subscription, which costs $30/£20 a year, or $5/£4 a month, and comes complete with access to all games in the Vault. It also comes with 10-hour trial versions of new games. Alternatively there's Origin Access Premier, which costs $100/£90 a year, but you get all of EA's new games included.
The full list of Star Wars games that have just been added to Origin Access is as follows:
- Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
- Battlefront 2 (Classic, 2005)
- Republic Commando
- Rogue Squadron 3D
- Dark Forces
- Shadows of the Empire
- X-Wing Alliance
- Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith
- Galactic Battlegrounds Saga
- Starfighter
- Episode 1 Racer
- Rebellion (Supremacy in the UK)
There are some excellent games there, with the highlights being classic Battlefront 2, squad shooter Republic Commando, space sim X-Wing Alliance, Racer, the fantastic FPS Dark Forces, and a couple of excellent Jedi Knight games. There are some surprising omissions though – Mysteries of the Sith is the expansion to Jedi Knight, but is the main game included? Why Jedi Academy and not Jedi Outcast? Nevertheless, a good selection.

Nevertheless, it's a solid line-up of Star Wars games, and they'll whet any fan's appetite for EA and Respawn's Jedi: Fallen Order – which is Duke Nukem/Dark Forces mashup mod, which is quite possibly the best Star Wars game ever.
