Medieval MMORPG Pax Dei gets new blessing system, starting with professions

Medieval sandbox MMORPG Pax Dei launches the second part of its Market Square overhaul, introducing the new Grace and Miracles systems.

There's something unquestionably appealing about the premise of Pax Dei. The medieval MMORPG is pitched as a social sandbox, bearing as many points in common with the likes of Rust and Ark as with more traditional MMOs. While games like Final Fantasy 14 and World of Warcraft are fundamentally pre-structured and built by developers, everything in the world of Pax Dei is produced by players. To make that process even slicker, a new update introduces a way to gain powerful blessings to help enhance your gathering and crafting abilities.

The MMORPG. It's shared across all your characters within a server region, and you can earn some for free each day by logging in, with more available to buy with Gold.

The Gold price of Grace increases progressively, with a reset every day – so if you want to stock up, you're better off spreading it across several exchanges rather than doing it all immediately. Once you've earned it, you can spend Grace across Miracles, which are "powerful and thematic abilities" that allow you to earn divine blessings, perform supernatural feats, or make use of other powerful skills.

Some Miracles will be free to cast, but the majority require you to spend Grace to activate them. The free options include some familiar utility skills that have now been reassigned as Miracles, such as teleporting home or summoning your corpse closer to you to recover any inventory lost on death.

The first set of new Miracles are all focused on boosting your efficiency while crafting or gathering, and will be granted to all players. The various gathering blessings boost your yields from gathering, mining, lumberjacking, and skinning. The crafting profession blessings increase your skills and the success rate of certain crafting tasks. You can activate multiple blessings at once, but a given skill will only take the strongest single buff that's currently available.

Developer Mainframe Industries is planning to introduce more Miracles moving forward, including higher-tier versions of the existing blessings that will offer increased benefits at a higher Grace cost. Many of these new Miracles will be unlocked through progression or exploration. Mainframe also notes that it's planning to develop Grace and its uses further in future patches.
