What is the best Monster Hunter Wilds Charge Blade build? A returning weapon, the Charge Blade has gone through a few changes, making it one of the most technical weapons on the roster.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Charge Blade is a tricky MH Wilds weapon that's not beginner-friendly. It boasts good mobility and alternate modes that let you perform sword, axe, and shield attacks, with plenty of elemental damage boosts to empower them. While versatile, the Charge Blade is a highly technical weapon that demands perfectly timed strikes and blocks to get the most from it, but our best build will help you get to grips with its moveset.

A breakdown of the weapon tree and equipment stats for the best Monster Hunter Wilds Charge Blade

Best Monster Hunter Wilds Charge Blade build

The best build for the Charge Blade is:

  • Primary Weapon: Hard Bone Strongarm
  • Secondary Weapon: Fearbringer Callistox (Bow)
  • Armor: G. Ebony Helm A (Helm), G. Ebony Mail A (Chest), G. Ebony Vambraces A (Arms), G. Ebony Coil A (Waist), G. Ebony Greaves A (Legs)
  • Decorations: Enhancer Jewel (Primary), Quick Switch Jewel (Primary), Attack Jewel (Primary & Secondary), Precise Jewel (Secondary), Artillery Jewel (Secondary), Focus Jewel (Armor), Ironwall Jewel (Armor), Guard Up Jewel (Armor)
  • Talisman: Partbreaker (Lv. 3)
  • Mantle: Corrupted Mantle
  • Equipment Skills: Attack Boost (Lv. 2), Load Shells (Lv. 2), Burst (Lv. 5), Bleeding Resistance (Lv. 3), Divine Blessing (Lv. 3), Earplugs (Lv. 3)

Believe it or not, the Hard Bone Strongarm is the most straightforward and powerful Charge Blade to use. Its Phial Type is Impact, meaning you knock out monsters using your Phials when they're charged up. It comes equipped with the second level of Load Shells, so you have more Phials to work with, along with an Attack Boost. The MH Wilds Bow makes a good secondary weapon to give you range against flying foes, and much like the Hard Bone Strongarm, Fearbringer Callistox is one of the easier Bows to master.

We want to utilize the Guardian Ebony set as it provides the max level of the Burst skill; if you hit an enemy five times the Charge Blade's attack dramatically increases. The full set also grants Ebony Odogaron's Power, extending the strength of Burst. The Earplugs and Divine Blessing skills are a bonus. This all comes together to create a skill-heavy, highly rewarding build as you can knock down a monster with your Impact Phials and inflict some powerful, successive hits to raise your attack damage.

The weapon Jewels provide your typical Power Prolonger and Rapid Morph skills necessary for a weapon like the Charge Blade, while the armor Jewels improve the Charge Blade's guard function in its sword form. The Corrupted Mantle is a great choice as you can use it when a monster is down to increase your attack power. Finally, the Partbreaker talisman is good for hacking off monster tails and horns – can't go wrong there.

How to use the Monster Hunter Wilds Charge Blade

The Charge Blade is a sword and shield that can be combined to create a powerful axe to land burst, chainsaw, and overcharged damage. It operates by using Phials, which are indicated in the top left corner under the sword charge.

To get Phials, you need to land attacks with the sword, and store the Phials in the shield; be sure to deposit the Phials, otherwise the sword instead repels enemies. Don't worry, though, as you can't have too many Phials, and though the idea of the Charge Blade is to keep them constantly topped up, Phials can transform into Overcharged Phials to land even more damage.

The Phials themselves can be spent in either sword or Axe Mode, to deal elemental boosts, elemental discharge, amped elemental discharge, or super amped elemental discharge, check out the moveset for both modes below.

Finally, you can activate Power Axe Mode to lengthen the duration of Axe Mode and lessen Phial usage in Axe Mode, including amped elemental discharge by half. You can stay in Axe Mode for double the time, before having to refill your Phials, and deal more damage when you chainsaw attack an enemy.

To enter power Axe Mode, you must perform a leaping attack onto a wound called Focus Slash, or after performing a Perfect Guard, use the Savage Axe Slash.
