InZOI dev shares new changes and gameplay features coming to The Sims rival

InZOI developer Krafton shares an array of feature improvements and changes it is making to The Sims rival, as we close in on launch.

InZOI is easily one of my most anticipated games of the year – Krafton's Sims rival promises to be bigger, bolder, and more immersive than any life game before it. Already packed with features, a new developer diary unveils even more of InZOI's core ideas. The team at Krafton has been carefully examining players' wishlists, and has some new ideas and tweaks based on what would-be fans are excited about the most.

The InZOI close, the game's director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim has updated us on several topics related to player wishlists, with new features teased.

Firstly, Kim talks ing facial capture to create Zoi face templates. Krafton has already shown us that you can use your phone to transfer live footage of your facial expressions to your Zoi, but it looks like the team wants to go even further. "After seeing our live facial capture and our AI-assisted 3D printer, we noticed many of you naturally wanting to apply these concepts to automatically creating faces for your Zois," Kim writes.

"It's a great idea that could certainly simplify your Create-a-Zoi experience. While we're still in our early stages of development, we are indeed working on a feature that is slightly different but is inspired by how we iterate custom assets on Build Mode."

Kim is also aware that animal adoption is a popular request from players, and confirms that some "pet-related features are in the plans." These will arrive after the early access launch, however, so you won't have them on day one.

With housing, Kim says the original plan was to allow you to build houses with unlimited floors, but concedes that this is undoable. "After careful consideration of issues that arise from extremely tall buildings, we have sadly decided to set a maximum cap of 30 floors."

As for Zoi's fighting, Krafton is going to dial up the tension. According to Kim, the game's current slapping system is not convincing for a lot of players, and doesn't fully convey the necessary drama of InZOI's brawls. "To address this, we added new motions and a system that determines the winner of a fight based on specific stats each Zoi has," the developer says. "We believe this can add more depth in creating interesting stories in InZOI."

Kim also says that the idea of gas stations has piqued Krafton's interest. Gas stations already have dedicated locations in InZOI, but you can't use them to fill up your car. "While we're on the fence about whether cars would actually put in gas at the gas station (I'm aware that's its main purpose), we can definitely place small convenience stores and bathrooms you can use while you (pretend to) wait for your car to fill up," Kim says.

Lastly, the developer talks about adding a tutorial for new players. While the team at Krafton thinks experienced players will "adapt quickly" to the many systems in the game, Kim is aware that newer players might be overwhelmed. "To help with that, we're working on a friendly, comprehensive tutorial to make sure everyone can get started smoothly."
