In of major releases for 2025, Grand Theft Auto 6 is likely to be the biggest of the year. Concerns around a possible delay remain unfounded, however, as Take-Two has once again doubled down on a fall 2025 release window.
PC games. Now that we're 12 years (!) away from GTA 5 first hitting shelves, demand and excitement for the next modern-day open-world game from Rockstar have been at a fever pitch for some time. It almost doesn't seem real that the next GTA could be so close, but right now it's expected to be here in a matter of months.
In a quarterly GTA 6 release date will land in fall 2025. He lists it alongside Civilization 7, Mafia: The Old Country, and Borderlands 4 as part of what is "one of the strongest years ever" for the publisher. Notably, none of their dates have changed, and the order they're mentioned suggests GTA 6 is coming before Borderlands 4.
They're are all big projects in their own right, but Grand Theft Auto 6 is on another level. It's the kind of release that has everyone in the industry on tenterhooks waiting for a confirmed date. EA even commented that it is prepared to shift the next Battlefield depending on certain variables within the industry, with the belief being that GTA 6's launch is the most important unknown quantity of them all.
This was the only reference to Rockstar's tentpole franchise in the earnings call, so there's no indication of when we might hear more. The first trailer arrived at the end of 2023, so news has been a slow drip ever since. But putting together something the scale of GTA 6 is an incredible feat of game development, and Take-Two and Rockstar may not have a precise date in mind just yet.
