How to gain Flintlock The Siege of Dawn reputation quickly

Every good Soulslike has important currency to manage, and Flintlock is no different. Here’s all you need to know about reputation.

How does reputation work in Flintlock Siege of Dawn? One of the most unique mechanics to this action-RPG and Soulslike hybrid is how the in-game currency, called reputation, works. Depending on how well you do in battle, you can multiply how much reputation you earn with the press of a single button. However, get hit just once, and that multiplication fades. This system creates a layer of intensity on top of already hectic battles. It's crucial to get a handle on this mechanic as everything from skills to armor upgrades requires reputation.

Once you've collected enough reputation in all Flintlock healing flask and Inaya shrine locations is key.

How to earn Flintlock reputation

As stated above, reputation are the 'souls' or 'runes' that you use to purchase skills, upgrade your equipment, and buy cosmetic clothing, usually at your camp. As you'd expect, if you are defeated you'll respawn at the last rest point and have one chance to reclaim your reputation. If you die again, all that reputation is gone. For about 75% of the game, reputation is extremely limited so you'll want to use every means available to get your hands on it. Thankfully, there's more than a few ways to do so.

Every method for earning reputation:

  • Defeat enemies to earn combat reputation (multiply the amount by not getting hit).
  • Defeat enemy hordes to earn a chunk of reputation.
  • Find Ancestor Shrines for a ive buff to reputation gained in that area.
  • Play the Sebo mini-game with NPCs.
  • Explore thoroughly to find Conscript consumables to use to gain reputation.
  • Complete both main and side quests to earn large amounts of reputation.
  • Shoot the bandit flags hidden throughout the Tree Peaks and Wanderer's Rest.
  • Blow up rock walls with powder barrels to find hidden items and earn reputation.

How Flintlock combat reputation works

This mechanic is the most unique aspect of Flintlock. By using different attacks without getting hit, you will multiply the amount of reputation earned when you 'claim' it. A regular pistol shot will add 4% to the multiplier while a fully charged shot will add 8%. Likewise, applying status effects such as fire earns more reputation than an attack that doesn't. As a general rule, riskier or more involved skills and attacks will increase the reputation multiplier quicker. To claim the multiplied reputation, you have to hold left on the D-pad if you're using a controller or V on a keyboard.

Reputation multiplication resets if you are hit; however, you will still learn the non-multiplied amount of reputation. The multiplier continues between enemy encounters, so if you're really good, you can each huge chunks of reputation. However, early on in Flintlock, you'll want to claim your reputation often until you learn the attack patterns of enemies and have a good repertoire of skills to help you take them down quickly. Once you've got that down, begin experimenting with how long you can get away without claiming it.

How to farm Flintlock reputation

There is one surefire way to farm reputation in Flintlock. As enemies respawn if you rest (aside from hordes and bosses), you can find an area near a Lodestone with plenty of easy to kill enemies nearby. However, your best bet is to repeatedly take on a bandit camp or an unrescued hamlet as the enemy density within is greater than regular areas. However, do NOT defeat the leader of the area. Instead, clear the regular enemies while avoiding the leader, fast travel to a nearby Lodestone, and repeat. If you defeat the boss, the bandit camp will become permanently cleared.

In the first area of the game, Three Peaks, the Gavel Gate hamlet is the best place to begin farming. You can access it by heading east of the camp you first arrive in. However, later on you'll come to the City of Writ that is brimming with enemies and Ancestor Spirits, making it a prime location to gather reputation. There's no leader here to worry about, either. That said, the upper area of Writ has more enemies for you to face, so focus your attention there.

In the second area, Wanderer's Rest, northwest of the first camp located at the First Anchor hamlet you'll find a bandit camp called Pilgrim's Overlook. Just northwest of it is a Lodestone and with two Ancestor Shrines to choose from nearby. From the Lodestone, grab the Ancestor Spirit located north of the camp and take everyone inside down. Return to the Lodestone and repeat.

That's all you need to know to make sure you've got enough reputation to add powerful skills to Nor and Enki's repertoire while upgrading your weapons of choice.
