It's been far too long since I played a good campaign mode in a military FPS. Battlefield 3 and the original, 2007 Modern Warfare remain the exemplars. If you want to go further back, and we're okay with including WW2 shooters, then Medal of Honor Allied Assault has to feature, and also the first MoH game from 1999. But recently, when it comes to great single-player stories in these kinds of games, the choices are few. Thankfully, the campaign for Team Jade's Delta Force revival has just opened up in a major way. Spiritually inspired by the classic Black Hawk Down games, as well as the movie, you can finally play the tough, realistic military shooter solo, and with much-improved controls.
Released back in February, until now, you could play the FPS game has a true single-player mode.
On top of that, the Delta Force campaign now s controllers, so if you're more at home with analog sticks and triggers than a mouse and WASD, there's no barrier to entry. You can also use a melee attack now, and the entire campaign has been reworked to make it friendlier to solo players. Enemy numbers have been cut down and there are some difficulty tweaks to keep things balanced.

Based on the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu, the Delta Force Black Hawk Down campaign also draws heavily from the 2001 movie, and the original Novalogic game of the same name. Rather than the gadgets and fantastical flourishes you find in Black Ops 6's single-player mode, this is more grounded and true to reality. If you want to try it out, you need to the Delta Force base game first, then install the campaign as DLC. Just go here.
