I really didn't expect at the start of this week that anything would come close to drawing my attention away from the Oblivion Remaster. Yet here I am, sitting here with my jaw on the floor at just how big the launch of Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has been. The debut game from French studio Sandfall Interactive, this gorgeous turn-based RPG is firmly in the conversation for Game of the Year – but great quality doesn't always translate into great sales. However, Sandfall appears to have achieved both. Despite its inclusion on Xbox and PC Game , Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has already hit a major sales milestone, just one day after it launched.
Yesterday I wrote about how (on Steam, at least) RPG – at the time of writing, it's got over 71,000 concurrent players, and that score has crept up to 94%.
Steam stats are helpful for getting a general read on how a game is doing, but with Expedition 33 also launching on the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S and PS5 consoles, and Game , it doesn't give the full picture. Well, this might.
Sandfall and publisher Kepler Interactive have confirmed that over 500,000 copies of Clair Obscur Expedition 33 have been sold in the roughly 24 hours or so it's been live – a monumental achievement.
Unless it's using some loose wording, this should concern paid sales of the game only, and shouldn't include the huge amount of people who will no doubt be playing on Xbox and PC Game . Given its availability on Microsoft's popular subscription service, these sales figures are all the more impressive.
"A milestone for us, reached sooner than we'd ever imagined," its announcement post reads. "Thank you all."
